CAN YOU DISCERN GOOD FROM EVIL? | Sharpen Your Spiritual Senses
We are living in an age of deception.
So how do you know what is truly good, what is evil, what is from God, and what only looks good on the surface?
In this message, Pastor Ruby teaches on biblical discernment and the importance of sharpening our spiritual senses through the Word of God, obedience, character, accountability, and the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 4 tells us that the Word of God is living and powerful and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
That means our feelings are not the standard.
Culture is not the standard.
Social media is not the standard.
The Word of God is the scale.
Pastor Ruby challenges us to examine our own lives first:
Your personality is who people see.
Your character is who you are when nobody is watching but God.
And your character affects your discernment.
Romans 12:1–2 tells believers not to conform to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind so that we may discern and prove the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.
This message also goes back to Genesis and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, showing why humanity desperately needs spiritual discernment today.
We need to ask ourselves:
Am I matching what I believe against Scripture?
Am I allowing God to correct me?
Am I examining myself before examining everyone else?
Can I recognize deception when it looks attractive?
Can I hear the voice of the Holy Spirit clearly?
The world will offer counterfeit fruit.
You have to know the difference between good and evil.
Sharpen your spiritual senses.
Stay in the Word.
Walk in obedience.
Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into truth.
And remember:
May your life preach louder than any words that come out of your mouth.
