Pastors Danney and Melissa Checotah are the Founders and Lead Pastors of Checotah Ministries based in North West San Antonio, TX. They started their church ministry after 6 years of training and assisting their Pastors in Lake Elsinore, CA in the early 1990s later receiving ordination through The United Council of Christian Churches in Los Angeles. With their 3 children and several military friends and families while stationed in Tucson, AZ, they formed a Bible Study group that grew to a small church. While there, Pastor Danney was licensed and ordained through Faith Christian Fellowship, Tulsa, OK. Checotah Ministries was officially founded and received its 501c(3) non profit religious organization status. After 4 years they relocated to Atlanta, GA continuing to evangelize, teach and preach in various churches in the Atlanta metro area additionally,Pastor Melissa completed Rhema Bible School. Four years later the family relocated to Germany for 6 years of cultural experience and study abroad. Now retired from the military they are enjoying being in one location, pastoring a local body of believers and growing an extended family of believers. Coming forth out of Checotah Ministries is the LION Church, Living In Overflowing Newness, dedicating their new church home on 11 June 2026.
Their driving passion is teaching the un-compromised full Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way people can relate to and understand, the Word of God is not meant to be complicated. They aspire to reach their community, state and nation with pragmatic teaching, Holy Spirit inspired messages and prayer, with praise and thanksgiving. They’ve been happily married since 17 March 1986. Together they were water baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1988 in Anchorage Alaska and together they proclaim the Word of God to those who have an ear to listen.
